Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of Banjarmasin Bina Marga or Highways Agency Gusti Riduan Sofyan said Sungai Andai 2 bridge construction in North Banjarmasin will be curved.


Riduan stated, the bridge is made curved to provide space for river transportation through it. "It is now common of making a bridge curved upwards," he said in Banjarmasin, Sunday (25/1).

The bridge previous construction of ironwood will be modified into concrete with a width of 10 meters and a length of 25 meters, so cars no longer have to be in line to cross. Sungai Andai is known as

densely populated areas.

According Riduan, Sungai Andai 2 is budgeted Rp8 billion from the 2015 budget allocation "Actually we want to begin construction in 2014, but hampered by land acquisition has not been settled," he said.

Now, said Riduan, the construction no longer a problem, because the local government has acquired land for the expansion of the bridge.

"We begin with the construction of an emergency bridge, because the existing bridge would be demolished," he said.

According to his data the number of existing bridges in the city with a nicknamed "city of a thousand rivers" is approximately 370, about 70 percent are still ironwood structured.

"This year 17 ironwood bridges to be replaced with concrete," he said.
