Director General of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control (PPKL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) RM Karliansyah said 170 programs have been prepared for the post-flood restoration in South Kalimantan.

According to him, out of 170 programs, 113 are short-term programs to be implemented in one year, 43 are medium-term programs, and 14 long-term programs to be carried out in five years.

"Today we will set together mining and plantation companies in South Kalimantan for land areas must be fixed or repaired in their respective areas," he said in a follow-up meeting on post-flood recovery with Acting Governor of South Kalimantan Dr Syafrizal and related agencies in Banjarbaru, Monday.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration and a common commitment in efforts to restore the environment from mining and plantation activities.

Karliansyah expected for a commitment from the companies to fix or repair their respective environment, especially post-mining reclamation.

Acting Governor Syafrizal said that collaboration, commitment, and common perceptions are an effective strategy in an effort to restore the post-flood environment.

"This meeting and coordination is an effort to prevent flooding from occurring again due to mining and plantation activities," he said.

Syafrizal added that building an environment needs time, collaboration, and the same perception of all parties, both the government, companies and other parties.

"The balance between exploitation and conservation is very important. It is impossible to stop mining and plantation activities, but how we can continue to strive and contribute to the environment," he said.
