At least five people died after the severe floodings in Tanah Laut District, South Kalimantan, caused landslides, Saturday.

"Landslide occurred in Guntung Besar, Gunung Keramaian, and Panggung Baru Villages, Pelaihari Sub-district," said Regent Sukamta in Pelaihari, Saturday.

Until Sunday, the joint SAR team from the local government assisted by TNI and Polri, Basarnas and volunteers still searched for victims who were thought to be trapped by landslides.

"Two victims in Gunung Keramaian, one survived and one died, but there is estimated another one so far has not been found," he said.

He asked people to be alert on subsequent landslides considering the high rainfall, including other areas that deserved to be watched out for.

Regarding two bridges that were damaged by flood, he said, they could not be repaired because the weather condition was not yet favorable.

"Yesterday, the bridge connecting Angsau and Pabahanan Urban Village was about to be temporarily repaired, but another tree fell and the bridge's oprit was missing. I have coordinated with the South Kalimantan Hall of Road to be followed up," he said.
