Tanjung, South Kalimantan (Kalimantan Antaranews) - Tabalong, South Kalimantan, began to operate a plastic waste processing plant managed by small group business Sumber Plastic Jaya in Pembataan village, Subdistrict Murung Pudak.


The plant with a capacity of two tons per day was inaugurated by Regent Anang Syakhfiani here on Wednesday witnessed by Bapedalda (Environmental Impact Management Agency) Head, Head of the City Planning and Cleanliness Agency as well as representatives of PT Adaro Indonesia.

"The presence of a waste processing plant in the region is very support regional programs in waste management in view of today's society are less aware that the waste can be a source of income," said Anang.

Factory built independently by residents of Pembataan besides giving employment to local people is also a source of additional income for the garbage collector, especially plastics, because it is used as raw material for the plant.

Business of processing plastic waste using raw materials such as plastic bottles is processed into plastic sand with medium size and then marketed to the plastics factory in Surabaya to be processed into plastic with a smaller size.

"We market the plastic sand to Surabaya Rp6,000 to Rp11,000 per kilogram for further processed into plastic pellets and then exported," said Surya as investors plastic waste processing plant.

Chairman of the Tabalong KNPI Renaldi said the organization he leads only facilitate the formation of small group of plastic waste processing business for the purpose of employment as well as the use of plastic waste.

Representative PT Adaro Indonesia, Fajerianoor, said through corporate social responsibility (CSR) Adaro will disburse funding assistance by Rp100 million for the processing of plastic waste .
