Indonesia, on Wednesday, recorded a high number of fresh confirmed COVID-19 cases, reaching 5,534, while the number recoveries touched 4,494 in the last 24 hours, according to the Task Force for COVID-19 Handling.


The total number of people recovering from COVID-19, as of Nov 25, 2020, stood at 429,807, confirmed case tally at 511,836, and the death toll at 16,225, with additional 114 people succumbing to the disease over the last 24 hours.

A total of 1,100 new recoveries, 1,273 fresh cases, and 17 deaths were reported in Jakarta, followed by 768 recoveries, 741 confirmed cases, and six deaths in West Java Province; 362 recoveries, 1,008 confirmed cases, and nine deaths in Central Java; and 281 recoveries, 402 confirmed cases, and 34 deaths in East Java.

East Kalimantan Province recorded 234 recoveries, 190 confirmed cases, and two deaths; West Sumatra registered 230 recoveries, 260 fresh cases, and eight deaths; and West Sulawesi recorded 217 recoveries, two new cases, and none succumbing to the disease.

The COVID-19 Handling Task Force also reported that two provinces had recorded below 10 new cases, while Gorontalo Province today reported no additional cases.

The country also registered 65,438 suspected cases in 505 districts and cities spread across 34 provinces across Indonesia.

Meanwhile, 45,330 specimens were examined on Wednesday through both the real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and molecular rapid test (TCM), thereby bringing the cumulative count of specimens to 5,465,921.
