The Banjarbaru Acting Mayor Bernhard E Rondonuwu suggested the city's iconic Pine Forest to be maintained sustainability and continues to be better developed as a tourist destination.

Acting Mayor was speaking as he visited one of the iconic of the city together with the city's officials, including Head of the Environment Agency, Head of Public Works and Housing Agency, Head of Youth, Sport, Culture, and Tourism Agency, Friday.  
 
He was also accompanied by Head of the Board of Government, Head of North Banjarbaru Subdistrict, Head of South Banjarbaru Subdistrict, 
Chief of Mentaos Urban Village, Chief Sungai Besar Urban Village, Chief of Guntung Manggis Urban Village, and Chairman of Banjarbaru Health City Forum.

"Our visit to the Pine Forest is to see how the condition and it is hoped that it can be further developed, so it becomes one of the destinations for both local and foreign tourists," he said. 

Bernhard E Rondonuwu, who is also the Home Ministry's Director of Public Order and Community Protection Agency, asked that the Pine Forest as the city forest to be maintained to remain sustainable. 

"Its existence should be maintained and better preserved because it becomes the lungs of the city that maintains the natural balance and generates oxygen for the environment," he advised.

After visiting the Pine Forest, the acting mayor and officials visited the banks of Kemuning River which was transformed into a tourist area with a new icon as Kampung Pelangi (Rainbow Village). 

It was called so, because along the riverbank the walls of residents' houses, including the roofs, are painted with various colors like the rainbow and added with public facilities.
