Banjarmasin Environment Agency has examined waste management in 36 business places.
"This is a routine activities to see the level of compliance of business activities with environmental permits and management," said Head of Environment Monitoring Division of the agency Wahyu Hadi Cahyono here, Sunday.
He explained that regular supervision activities are part of the effort to guide actors of business activities.
Initially, the agency targeted to examine 55 business activities, but due to limitations arising from the pandemic, then it could only examine 36.
"What we checked are rubber companies, plywood, hospitality (hotels), docking, fuel depots, hospitals, restaurants, and others," he said.
The examination of waste management in business activities included the handling of B3 (the hazardous and toxic) waste, liquid waste, and garbage, as well as checking of environmental impact analysis documents (Amdal).
"Their compliance with the environment management is about 90 percent," he said.
Wahyu insisted on the importance for business actors to obey the regulations of waste management and handling the impact of business activities to the environment.
