Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Banjarmasin landfill (TPA) has scheduled for 2016 to donate renewable energy biogas as alternative energy for community.


Head of Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of TPA Basirih, Danang, on Friday, said the biogas to be produced by landfill in the Subdistrict of South Banjarmasin will be very large. A lot of households can utilize, for example for their stoves for cooking.

"However, the pipeline infrastructure for the biogas flow into the houses is to be constructed in 2015," he said explaining the program is still awaiting the results of a study by consultants, both in the development and utilization of landfill biogas.

Waste management system in the landfill Basirih now changed, first by way of stacking up mounting, now not anymore. "Now we average piled trash and cover with soil," he revealed, explaining that Banjarmasin
community produced 650 tons waste per day.

While the production of organic fertilizer in the landfill Basirih also big. "TPA Basirih is predicted still be used up to 30 years into the future, because there are many vacant lots, which is about five hectares," he said.

In addition, the production of waste disposed to landfill Basirih began to decrease, in line with the functioning of a number of integrated solid waste management (TPST) in the community.
