Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - A number of intersubdistrict roads, which original status of the the District of Kotabaru, now taken over as the responsibility of the provincial and central governments.


"Thus those roads become strategic provincial roads and national strategic roads by 2014," said Chairman of Commission III DPRD Kotabaru HM Rusli Erfan, in Kotabaru, on Friday.

Kotabaru has proposed in the last three years to increase the status of districts road into the provincial strategic roads namely Tanjung Serdang (Central Pulau Laut) - Lontar (West Pulau Laut) along 76 Km, Megalau - Sampanaha about 18 Km and Banian - Sungai Durian. All are approved this year.

With the change of status, he explained, the improvement of these roads are fully allocated from the budget of South Kalimantan (APBD-Perubahan) this year as well.

Meanwhile, the proposal to upgrading of Pulau Laut Ring road into the national strategic road also agreed on the condition that the road should connected with existing national roads, said M Sahlani, member of Commission III who also participated in a working visit in Bappeda and the Provincial Public Works Agency.
