According to the 2020 Village Development Index (IDM), eleven villages in the Tapin District are still underdeveloped, a Community and Village Empowerment Agency official (PMD) said.
"The eleven villages are in two sub-districts, the Candi Laras Utara (CLU) and the Candi Laras Selatan (CLS)," said Head of the Tapin PMD Agency Rahmadi in Rantau, Monday.
Rahmadi said, there are 10 underprivileged villages in Candi Laras Utara (CLU), namely Kaladan Village, Sungai Salai Hilir, Batalas, Buas-Buas, Buas-Buas Hilir, Sawaja, Rawana, Rawana Hulu, Teluk Haur, and Sungai Salai.
"While in CLS sub-district there is one underdeveloped village, namely Pabaungan Pantai," he said.

The village status is determined from three main variables and indicators, namely the social security index, the economic resilience index, and the environment resilience index.
The Regent of Tapin HM Arifin Arpan said, the government effort to advance the underdeveloped villages is by building infrastructures, such as roads and bridges.
"Infrastructure is the most important, especially since these eleven disadvantaged villages are located in the swampy areas, where infrastructure is very much needed, such as roads and bridges," said the regent.
However, the support of all elements from the village government, the district government, the provincial government, and the central government is needed in developing the underdeveloped villages.
"We see from the index of assessment of these villages, what are lacks, for example in health, or education, those we should re-focus," he pointed out.
The regent said, with the development of infrastructure, in the future, there will be no more underdeveloped villages in Tapin.
