Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar continued to distribute food assistance to the district residents who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As many as 540 food packages handed over to people in nine villages in Pulau Laut Kepulauan Sub-district, Sunday.

Previously, the regent led the distribution of food to a number of sub-districts, included Pulau Laut Utara, Pulau Laut Sigam, Pulau Laut Timur, Pulau Laut Tengah, Pulau Laut Barat, Pulau Laut Tanjung Selayar, and Pulau Laut Selatan.

"Each village receives 60 food packages in accordance with the respective village's data," said Acting Head of the Kotabaru Social Office Nurviza.

According to government expectations, recipients of assistance had never received other assistance from the government. If it did not match the fact in the field, he added, it could be changed by the village.

Regent H Sayed Ja'far said, the government will continue to go don to the field to assist and see the condition of its residents, as the COVID-19 outbreak had caused the economy of all levels to plummet.

He also said that the local government is currently giving ease in a new normal to places of worship and tourist attractions but still complying to health protocol, such as wearing masks, keeping distance, and frequently washing hands with soap.

The distribution of food packages at the pier of the Tanjung Lalak Utara Village was attended by members of DPRD, heads of agencies, Kadin, head of sub-district, Forkopimca, and representatives of the recipients.
