Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The South Kalimantan's Balai Bahasa (Language Center) recording endangered languages ​​in the provinces to save a language that is a characteristic of a region, especially in rural and suburban areas.

Head of Lexicograph Team of the Balai Bahasa Musdalifah, SS MPd, here on Wednesday said, she and four members of the team had gone down to the field to do recording endangered languages ​​in several districts in the province.

"One of the places we have visited was Barito Kuala, precisely in the East Berangas Village, Subdistrict Berangas, for recording estimated Dayak language which almost extinct," she said.

Lexicograph four team members who go directly to the field are Siti Jamzaroh MHum, Ahmad Zaini SAg MPD, Anasabiqatul Husna SS, and Laila SPd.

Musdalifah accompanied Siti Jamzaroh who is a researcher at the South Kalimantan's Balai Bahasa. They involve seven native speakers who are Berangas community elders. They still actively using the local language.
    
"The recording process is done at the Village Hall during five days since Tuesday (22/4) to Saturday (26/4) and the results will then be used as a Dayak Berangas dictionary compiled," he said.

Recording Dayak Berangas vocabulary is to document vocabulary and a variety of traditions and oral literature that has ever lived and flourished in community but becoming obsolete even endangered.
   
This was a continued last year's activities with the different locations in the village of North Alalak Banjarmasin. According to the information of active speakers, the language speakers were only about 60 people in the village of North Alalak while in Berangas their are outnumbered.
