The South Kalimantan chapter of the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) will bring in as many as 350 tons of sugar from Central Java for the province's need. Previously the company had brought in 250 tons of sugar from Lampung.

"The 350 tons of sugar that we brought from Central Java may come in one or two days," said the head of the agency here Arif Mando, Friday (May 8, 20200.

Currently, the South Kalimantan Bulog has a stock of about 208 tons of white crystal sugar, the amount of which continues to decrease every day as it is distributed to the public.

"We also still have sugar stock, although the number continues to decrease due to distribution to the community," he said.

The stock of sugar spread in a number of warehouse, namely in the GBB Telaga Biru 138 tons, GBB Binderang 20 tons, GBB Birik Barabai, Central Hulu Sungai (HST) 25 tons, GSP Semayap Kotabaru 15 tons, and GSP Sari Gadung Tanah Bumbu 10 tons.

"The (existing) stock together with the good to come later will be focused to be distributed to the public for direct consumption," Arif said.

The price of sugar at several traditional markets in South Kalimantan has been going down to around Rp14.000-Rp15.000 per kg after it has surged to Rp19.000 until Rp21.000 per kg.

Head of South Kalimantan Trade Office Birhasani in Banjarmasin on Sunday said, since the last few days sugar supply at the distributors or at markets was sufficient until the price has decreased, but not yet to return to the normal price of Rp12.500 per kg.
