Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Banjarbaru ensures the death of dozens of birds types of ducks and chicken here are not due to bird flu disease.

"Verbal information from officers of Veterinary Investigation Center, samples test negative, so that the death was not due to bird flu, " said Head of Livestock of Banjarbaru Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Agency Sugiyono here on Tuesday.

He said the agency had sent samples of the dead carcass of a duck farm from Gunung Kupang and chicken carcasses belonging to Sidomulyo Street, East Lndasan Ulin.

This was done because the number of duck deaths on Gunung Kupang reached 13 and 59 chicken died at Jalan Sidomulyo within two months and feared to be bird flu.

"Moreover, the death of thousands of ducks in four districts in South Kalimantan had tested positive for bird 
flu and bird flu alert has been declared so (we) anticipated through the sample test, " he said.

He explained that while the alleged cause of death of birds at two different locations was due to bacteria or poisoning but may also be due to a disease that can strike as tetelo and Newcastle Disease.

According to him , even though the sample test results negative , but it remains vigilant against the deadly 
disease for the poultry biosecurity through the spray the area around the cage with disinfectant.
