The Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Office revealed that 3,893 companies in the capital city had applied a work from home (WFH) system until Tuesday (Apr 28) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The number of companies that have applied and reported WFH/PSBB policies as of Tuesday, April 28, 2020, reach 3,893, involving a workforce of 1,053,073 people," the office posted on its Instagram account @disnakertrans_dki_jakarta on Tuesday.

Two categories of the WFH system in accordance with the Large Scale Social Distancing (PSBB) measure are to stop all activities while the second pertains to reducing some activities.

Under the first category, as many as 1,342 companies have halted all office activities during the PSBB period, with a total of 182,994 employees working from home.

Meanwhile, as per the second category, 2,551 companies employing 870,079 people continued to operate by applying a partial reduction system in their activities.

The manpower office urged other companies that have also applied the WFH system to report immediately, so they can be recorded.

"If you have already implemented WFH/PSBB in your workplace, report it via the bit.ly/wfh implementation report," it said on its account.

The office also accrued data on workers laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic to receive training in accordance with the pre-employment card program from the central government. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan issued Governor Regulation No. 33 of 2020 on imposing PSBB in the capital for 14 days, effective from April 10, after obtaining approval from Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto.

Indonesia's capital is the first city in the country to impose large-scale social restrictions to stem the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
