The burial of a body of a positive COVID-19 in Matang Batas Village, Hatungun Sub-district, Tapin, proceeded smoothly without any rejection from local residents.

Commander of Binuang Sub-district Military Command (Danramil) Capt.Inf. Asep Abi Abdillah, when confirmed, said that the funeral was carried out in the public cemetery area (TPU) in the village.

"Everything went on conducive, the body after coming from Banjarmasin with an escort from Tapin Police went straight to the cemetery," he said.

He explained, previously the funeral was planned to be held behind the house of the victim, but after a discussion, the body was then buried at the TPU of the village.

"The funeral was carried out by the COVID-19 task force team, health workers assisted by four residents by using the standard personal protective equipment (PPE)," he said again.

In accordance with the protocol of COVID-19 burial, residents may only saw from a distance of about 200 to 300 meters from the location of the cemetery.

"The funeral was held at about 3:00 p.m.," he said.

The positive patient infected with coronavirus breathed his last on Thursday (April 9, 2020) at 1:00 midnight.

He was treated in the isolation room of Datu Sanggul Rantau District Hospital for one night after having PDP (Patient Under Surveillance) status, then referred to Ulin Regional Hospital in Banjarmasin and received intensive care for four days.
