The Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Drs. H. Achmad Fikry has received survey team from the state oil company PT Pertamina who asked for support from the local government related to seismic survey they will conduct in the area of North Daha, West Daha, and South Daha, HSS District, South Kalimantan.
Chief of the team Ramses in Kandangan on Tuesday (March 3, 2020) said, the seismic survey is an initial survey to find out the mineral deposit, such as petroleum, which is below the surface of the land in the areas.
"For South Kalimantan region, in addition to HSS, the survey is also conducted in Barito Kuala and North Hulu Sungai (HSU). The activity is carried out in two months," he said.
The result of the survey will determine the next step, so the initial survey is needed. Some equipments will temporarily be installed, if completed they will be taken back.
There are seven areas in South and Central Kalimantan estimated to have oil deposits, namely four in South Kalimantan and three others in Central Kalimantan. The average is in swampy areas.

Regent H Achmad Fikry welcomed and fully supported the Pertamina activities to carry out a survey in the HSS region. He asked sub-district heads to coordinate and disseminate with the villages, in order for the seismic survey to run smoothly.
“If the aim is to find out the possibility of oil deposit in this area, as a regional government we are very supportive,” he remarked.
But he reminded that the process not to bother the surrounding residents, and most importantly this plan is well socialized to the residents first, especially in areas where there are landowners.
Also present at the meeting, HSS Regional Secretary H. Muhammad Noor, Administration Assistant for Development and Community Sasmi Rifani, Head of Economy and Administration Bardamaini, North Daha Sub-district Head M. Taufiqurrahman, South Daha Sub-district Head Nafarin, and West Daha Sub-district Head Syamsuri.
