The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) for South Kalimantan Regional Division at this time has a stockpile of 17.000 tons rice which is sufficient for the next five months.


Head of the agency Arif Mando told Antara News in Banjarmasin, Tuesday (March 3, 2020), that much stock will be very sufficient when entering Ramadhan.

"The rice stock stored in the Bulog warehouse is a local type of rice, such as Ciherang and Pandag," he said.

In addition to local rice, Bulog has rice stock from Vietnam and Thailand.

The rice stock is to meet the routine needs of around 2,000 to 2,500 tons per month for 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan.

Beside to meeting the regular needs, Bulog is ready if there is a need to hold market operations or low-cost markets.

As usual, Bulog ready to hold low-cost markets to welcome the start of Ramadan. These activities are usually awaiting direction from the Industry and Trade Office.

"Till today, we have not received any request yet from other parties to hold low-cost markets," Arif Mando said.
