The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District, South Kalimantan, kicked off the 2020 Population Census (SP2020) which combines online data gathering and door to door interview, Saturday (Feb 15, 2020) in Barabai.
"Starting 00.00 Wita (Central Indonesia Time), people can start filling out data in the online 2020 Population Census through https://sensus.bps.go.id till March 31, 2020. Then from July 1 to 31, 2020 the census will be done by interview," said Head of BPS HST Eddy Erwan Nopianoor.
According to him, this is the first time in Indonesian history that the population census is done online. People are given the opportunity to actively and independently fill out their own data.

While the basic population data used by BPS is from the Demography and Civil Registration (Dukcapil). Thus, to access the website, people need only to write down the citizen identity numbers (NIK) or Family Card (KK) numbers.
There are a lot of questions about citizen's population in the SP2020 website, starting from personal identity to data required by the state.
"This census also received support from the President, governor till regent and regional secretary. We schedule to conduct and online census test with the HST Regent at his residence on Monday (Feb 17, 2020)," he said.

BPS will also list residents who have not yet filled out the population census online. Volunteers will come door to door in July.
"For some mountainous regions in HST where there is no internet network, we have recruited about 400 interview census volunteers," he said.
"Please forward this information to all friends, co-workers, the community around, relatives, neighbors, and all social media contacts or groups you have," he appealed.
