Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin pinned the Satyalencana Kebaktian Sosial honor from President Joko Widodo to Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor.
The mark of honor was conferred on the governor at the peak of the 2019 National Solidarity Day (HKSN) commemoration at the courtyard of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government offices in Banjarbaru, Friday (Dec 20, 2019).
Satya Lencana Kebaktian Sosial was also given to 16 figures who were credited with reviving and empowering values of social welfare.
Governor Sahbirin Noor was considered successful in improving social welfare and handling of its problems in South Kalimantan.
He, who familiarly called Uncle Birin, was assessed of making good in the handling of strategic problems, that must be resolved responsively, fast, and urgently.
Uncle Birin also helped in the guidance of neglected children, people with mental disabilities, homeless and beggars, thus improving the quality of life of the community.
The honor was presented in front of national and regional leaders as well as 10 thousand volunteers and residents who packed the complex of provincial government offices.
VP Ma’ruf Amin and Social Affairs Minister Juliari P Batubara expressed high appreciation for the national award won by the Governor of South Kalimantan and other recipients.
Ma’ruf Amin claimed to be impressed by the friendliness of the people of South Kalimantan in welcoming his arrival.
Meanwhie, Governor H Sahbirin Noor said, the award was the achievement of all government ranks and people of South Kalimantan. “Hopefully this achievement would be encouragement for all levels of government and society in building South Kalimantan, especially to strengthen social care,” he remarked, accompanied by his wife Hj Raudatul Jannah, after receiving the prestigious award.
Also attended the ceremony were Deputy Governor H Rudy Resnawan, members of Forkopimda, Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan H Abdul Haris Makkie, regents and mayors all over South Kalimantan.
