Banjar District won the second overall champion in the 32nd National Quran Recital Competition (MTQ) for South Kalimantan Provincial level in Kotabaru.

"We appreciate and proud of the achievement of the Banjar kafilah (contingent) for winning the second overall championship. Hopefully this achievement to be further improved in the similar event next year," he remarked. 

All 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan took part for a week of competition, which was opened on Sunday (Nov 3, 2019) and ended on Friday (Nov 8, 2019) in Siring Laut attraction, Kotabaru.

Governor H Sahbirin Noor, who was represented by Provincial Secretary Abdul Haris Makkie, closed the event.

The MTQ board of judges announced, Banjar won the overall championship with a score of 61, under the depending champion Banjarmasin scored 119. While the host, Kotabaru, won the third place with a score 37.

Six of Banjar Quran reciters won first place, eight won second place, and six other won 3rd place.
