President of the World Packaging Organization (WPO) Pierre Pienaar said that all the countries in the world are looking for a way out with regard to packaging that is environment-friendly.
"All countries that have production continue to adopt sophisticated technology in packaging goods or production so as to produce healthy and environment-friendly packaging," Pierre said on the sidelines of the "Global Packing Conference (IPF-WPO) 2019" in Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday.

He said all members of the WPO would discuss the future of packaging of goods or products at the meeting so that there would be a joint agreement in maintaining quality, cleanliness and environment friendliness.
"So far, the most important issue in the packaging of goods is the use of plastic. Indeed, before using plastic, the most important issue was using styrofoam and iron," he said.
According to Pierre, goods are packaged using plastic because this material is considered the cheapest and safest.

"Plastics with the latest technology can be made from plant species that are easily processed and are environment-friendly," he said.
In addition, he said that if household waste can be sorted by the community, even though it is in the form of plastic packaging, it will not pollute the environment.
"What is happening now is that the process of collecting plastic waste until recycling is not being carried out thoroughly by the world community. This is what we need to discuss at this meeting," he said.
The two-day WPO Conference was attended by at least 200 participants from 24 countries across the world.
During the meeting, each delegation will present the problems they have encountered with their packaging.
The conference was also attended by goods packaging companies.
