Banjar Regent Khalilurrahman together with santri (students) of the Islamic boarding school Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Takhasus in Tanjung Rema, Martapura Kota Sub-district, harvested catfish (lele) cultivated by the santri, Wednesday.

The santri used microbubble technology in their farming and this is the first applied in their boarding school. The technology does not require the process of siphoning, namely the disposal of sewage sludge left over from feed and feces.

The regent appreciated their exertion and hoped it will be mdel in the district. In one month of farming, they produced 100 kilogram of fish.

"Fish enlargement using microbubble technology is very environmentally-friendly and can be done at the house yard. It need no much water, even it suppress fish feed by up to 50 percent," the regent remarked.

He expected the use of technology to increase the santri knowledge in fish farming until they become santripreneur.

The Maritime and Fishery Minister Susi Pudjiastuti in her policy, he said,  wanter the Islamic boarding school in Indonesia to be independent in fishery to meet the need of protein of santri.
