An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 hit the waters off Enggano in Bengkulu Province early Tuesday, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The quake which struck at 3:09 a.m. was centered 76 kilometers southwest of Enggano and at a depth of 29 kilometers, the agency said.
The tremor did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. However, the agency warned of possible aftershocks.
