Local Craft Must Follow Trend

Banjarbaru, 28/5 (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Head of Central Family Welfare Movement  Team Leader (TP-PKK Pusat) Vita Gamawan Fauzi asking local crafts should follow trend and development that public interest.

"The shape and motif of crafts do not monotonic, but have to follow the trend to be sought after and purchased," she said in court Murjani Banjarbaru, on Tuesday.

She said that before opening exhibition and trade fair in a series of the tenth anniversary of Month of Consecrated Mutual Aid Society and the 41st PKK Unity Day Movement, which will be consentrated in Banjarbaru.

According to her, every region in Indonesia has a typical craft in the form of goods such as accessories, woven fabrics and processed foods and beverages which accordance with each region potential.

She also asked both the provincial and district or municipalities government  to foster and develop local crafts so that at the same time improve the welfare of the community.

"The role of housewives and girls in the household handicraft production a boost to the economy of the family and is expected to improve their welfare," she said.

She added, the most important part of the local handicraft products are foster a love of domestic products so as to further develop the product that is processed and managed by communities.

133 participants from four ministries, 71 stand of provinces, districts and cities, 31 booths of South Kalimantan provincial government, 12 state/local owned companies as well as 15 private booths take part in the exhibition, which will be held during three days.

The anniversary is scheduled to be opened by Vice President accompanied by his wife on the ground of Murjani Court, Banjarbaru, Thursday (30/5).
