As many as nine local languages in the province, all of which were still preserved and dialogue with the people up to now,  an official of the Balai Bahasa (Language Center) of South Kalimantan said.


Head of the Balai Bahasa Imam Budi Utomo in Banjarmasin on Tuesday said the nine local languages that were still sustainable were Banjar, Dayak, Bakumpai, Samiin, Barangas, Dusun, Deah, Agal, and Halong.

According to him, the nine languages continue to be researched to find out the extent of sustainability in the local community.

In fact, he continued, the center continued to find out whether there are other languages have not been detected so far.

"There could be other language later, we accept if people reporting it, and we must check it out in the field," he said.
