The inquiry committee (Pansus) of draft bylaws (raperda) to revise the regional bylaw (Perda) No. 17/2012 began discussing the tightening of permits where to sell liquor in the city of Banjarmasin.

A legislator, H Yamin, after a discussion on the draft regulation in the DPRD on Tuesday said there was an agreement between legislature and the city government to limit permits to sell alcoholic beverages only in 4 and 5 star hotels, and in large restaurants.

"Outside of that there should be no more. There is already a special agreement between the committee to draft," said the Gerindra politician.

Thus, he said, there are no legal distribution sites in discotheques, pubs, adult karaoke, or special marked restaurants.

He stated, this step is an attempt to limit the circulation of alcoholic beverages, thus they are not easily obtained by the public.

Another consideration said Yamin, based on reports from the city government, about 12 places that previously had permission, apparently did not contribute at all.

"We get information from the City Government's Finance Section, zero rupiah goes to the PAD from related retributions, even though they have already applied for an extension of the permit, some even have already processed their licenses," said Yamin.
