The embankment of one of the raw water sources (intake) of the tap water company of PDAM Kotabaru collapsed on Saturday afternoon (8/6) after heavy rain for several hours.

"The broken down part is on the right side of the embankment and also supporting infrastructure buildings," said Public Relations of PDAM Kotabaru Syarwani.

He pointed out that this incident was purely a natural factor and there were no problems with the structure of the building.

The retention basins (embung) which was officiated in mid-2017 has a capacity of 250 thousand cubic meters water and supplies more than five thousand customers with clean water.

After the collapse of the embankment, the embung practically can no longer hold maximum water, which results in disruption of the distribution of clean water to thousands of customers.

"The impact is very broad, because it serves more than five thousand customers. There are old intakes, but can only supply water to about a thousand of customers," Syarwani said.

Coordination is still done with company management and officers in the field regarding the next steps to overcome this condition.
