Kandangan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H Achmad Fikry along with the ceremony participants wearing the battle clothes in the 70th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Governor of the the 4th Division of the Indonesian Naval Army (ALRI) to Defend Kalimantan at the May 17, 1949 Proclamation Monument.


South Kalimantan Governor H. Sahbirin Noor said the Proclamation of May 17, 1949 was an important history for the people of South Kalimantan. Here came the statement to the people and the world.

"That the ALRI 4th Division of Kalimantan Defense guerrilla really existed and had the strength, and the existence of its power was able to form a government within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia," he said as the inspector of the ceremony.

Although de facto at that time Kalimantan was under Dutch colonialism, but there was determination and enthusiasm, the unyielding value and extraordinary nationalism.

Regent H Achmad Fikry said a pride for HSS was part of the war zone. Of course it is important to interpret the commemoration of the 4th Division of the ALRI Anniversary not only as ceremonial, but by further instilling the values contained in it.

At the end of the ceremony, the HSS Regent and the Governor handed over basic necessities and compensation to veterans and veteran widows symbolically, and the governor granted an operational car to Batu Bini Village which was symbolically received by the village head.

Also present were Deputy Regent of HSS Syamsuri Arsyad,  Commander of Banjarmasin Naval Base Lt. Col. Wijayanto, Chair of HSS DPRD H. Akhmad Fahmi, South Kalimantan FKPD, HSS Forkopimda, provincial and HSS officials.
