Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - One of the coal companies in Tanah Bumbu District, PT Borneo Indo Bara (BIB), carried out tree planting in Bunati Village, Angsana Subdistrict, along with local officials.
PT BIB Manager of Enviro and Reclamation Yudha Hes in Batulisin said the planting of trees was in the framework of Earth Day held annually by the company.
"Tree planting is done in three points, namely in the area of school, mosque and langgar (small place of worship) environment and along the village road," he said.
He said, as many as 260 trembesi trees and fruit trees were planted. This number will continue to be increased until it reaches the target of 1000 trees.
Meanwhile, PT BIB's CSR and External Relations Senior Manager Dindin Makinudin added the tree planting was one of the company's efforts to preserve the environment.
"In addition to reforestation, this activity is intended to preserve local fruit plants as part of conservation," he said.
According to Dindin, local fruit plants have many benefits. In addition to having economic value, the plant can still be productive for decades so its benefits continue to be felt by the next generation
