Head of the Agriculture Agency Setya Budi through the Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Division Berkat in Batulicin on Tuesday said the meat demand in all markets in the district reached 0.5 tons, while meat production from beef cattle reached one ton per day.
"We supply the remaining 0.5 tons to all markets in other districts as a form of meat self-sufficiency program in South Kalimantan," Berkat told.
He said, the number of cows in all breeders in Tanah Bumbu reached 2,000, consisting of 1,700 female cows, 300 bulls.
Pregnant cows have rached 1,000 and those that give birth have reached 700 cows. The rest is estimated in mid-2019 to give birth.
The Agriculture Agency in the Animal Husbandry Sector also intensified the program of the Obligatory Breeding Cattle (Upsus Siwab) with a target of 1500 heads. In fact, last year 1900 were realized, meaning a surplus of about 30 percent.
