This is our common concern, even though there have never been casualties due to fallen mahogany trees,Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Acting Regent of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) H A Chairansyah asked the Environment and Transportation Agency to inventory the large mahogany trees that grow around the city of Barabai, Monday (28/1).
The order follows the occurrence of a fallen tree in Dwi Warna Field in the center of the capital city of Barabai, including the incident of fallen trees some time ago.
"This is our common concern, even though there have never been casualties due to fallen mahogany trees," Chairansyah said at a combined ceremony of the ASN in the Regent's office yard.
According to him, the factor of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning in the rainy season creates a vulnerability to the fall of mahogany trees those are very old up to hundreds of years.
"Please Environment Agency to collaborate with plant experts and community elements to inventory trees, to be carefully determined which ones to cut down and which trees to maintain," he said.
