This is one of three awards won by the district in the Durian Fruit Contest and Exotic Fruit Exhibition in Kiram Park, Banjar District.
"This year we have three awards, one of which is the most unique category of fruit for the kapul burung," said Head of the Tabalong Agriculture Agency Johan Effendi.
Two other awards were the favorite champions for the Lanjung Sulangai durian, the choice of the Provincial Secretary, and the Kemundai Sulangai durian, the choice of the Head of the South Kalimantan Food Crops and Horticulture Agency.
Tabalong Agriculture Agency displayed 26 types of local fruits in the Durian Fruit Contest and Exotic Fruit Exhibition at Kiram Park.
This is the second times Tabalong has participated in durian contests conducted by the South Kalimantan Food Crops and Horticulture Agency.
Last year, Mahrawin Merah Durian from Pujung Village, Bintang Ara Subdistrict, Tabalong, won second place in the 2018 South Kalimantan durian contest.
Mahrawin Merah durian has a fragrant, sharp, and strong aroma. It is similar to Pampakin, but the skin is red.
Johan said the Agriculture Agency will develop nurseries for rare local fruit till their sustainability is maintained. One of them is Binturu fruit in Sulangai Village, Jaro Subdistrict, which has the benefit of treating anemia
