Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Because of worrying about landslides caused by river erosion, residents of Banyu Irang Village in Bati-Bati Subdistrict, Tanah Laut (Tala), expect the provincial government to help fix the river in their village.


"Because from the information of local residents, several houses are threatened to collapse if there is erosion during heavy rains," said South Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD) member Drs Misri Syarkawie in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.

"They conveyed the hopes when I recess to the village last week," said Misri Syarkawie.

According to the legislator from the 7th electoral district for Banjarbaru and Tala, the position of Banyu Irang Village is in two regions, Banjarbaru and Tala, so that the authority for reform is in the provincial government.

Their request, he said, was simple namely to build a "bronjong" (water retaining dike from large stones enclosed by a wire basket) to hold back the flow of water so that erosion and landslides do not occur.
     
According to him, this is quite reasonable, not only to avoid the effects of landslides and floods but administratively the area of the Banyu Ireng River also entered the city of Banjarbaru.

"As a representative of the people I morally will fight for this aspiration, even though the one who conveyed only the Banyu Irang residents. I believe that the residents of Bangkal, Cempaka, Banjarbaru have the same aspirations," Misri said.
     
In the recess period of 7 - 11 November 2018, Misri met his constituents at five points in Tala, namely Banyu Irang, Tambang Ulang Village, Pelaihari Subdistrict (about 65 kilometers northeast of Banjarmasin), Bajuin (100 km) and Batu Ampar (around 125 km southeast Banjarmasin).
