Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan will host the 2018 Peatlands Community Jamboree (JMG) to be held in Kiram Village, Karang Intan, Banjar Regency, at the end of April.


Secretary of the 2018 JMG Executive Committee H. Gusti Nurpansyah said the activity is the annual agenda of the Agency for Restoration of Peatland (BRG) for the second time. Last year a similar jamboree was held in Jambi Province.

This year's Jamboree entitled "Celebrate Peatland, Restore Indonesia" is scheduled to take place on April 28-30, will be attended by 2,000 participants from seven provinces, namely Riau, Jambi, South Sumatera, Papua, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.

Community, related agencies, Local Peatland Restoration Team (TRGD), regional heads, BRG, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial/National Land Agency (BPN ) will be involved here.

"The plan is this Jamboree will be attended and opened by President Joko Widodo," he said.

JMG is a place where people exchange information, share knowledge and experience in friendly and fair peat management and promote local wisdom.

In preparation for the national activities, the meeting to prepare of 2018 JMG committee was held attended by various stakeholders involving many parties and across the regional organizations from South Kalimantan Provincial Government, Banjarbaru, Banjar District, and TRGD.
