Barabai, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Syahdini (52), a farmer in Central Hulu Sungai District, expands the creative economy by utilizing the environment without destroying nature.
On his land in Kalibaru Village and Layuh Village, Batu Benawa Sub-district, he developed various types of plant seeds, as well as the manufacture of organic fertilizer, organic animal feed. He also developed cattle, pigeon, fish cultivation, and triguna or Kalulut honey breeding.
When he began to cultivate kalulut honey in 2002, he told AntaranewsKalsel, he was considered as crazy by people around. Kalulut at the time was something new in the community and has not been proven to produce honey.
"But now Alhamdulillah from various parts of Indonesia have ordered triguna honey of the quality and the price is more expensive than ordinary bee honey," he said.
Syahdini currently together with the community to experiment organic fertilizer on rice for about two hectares to produce organic rice.
"Our business is interconnected, for example our cow manure is used to compost with P2O mixtures for the plants we develop," he said.
The father of three children added that the plants he developed are rare seeds, such as seeds of tin, soursop honey, and others.
"We also distribute organic fermented chicken feed made from sago, bran, and P2O mixture which has been proven able to raise chickens faster and healthier with the price per kilo of Rp2500," said the man who was born on December 7, 1965.
According to the civil servant in the Secretariat of the HST General Elections Commission, his work by utilizing the environmental are all from learning and trying to be self-taught and see in the internet.
"I hope the youths now should never feel inferior when living in the village, because to be successful does not have to be a civil servant. Farmer can be successful as long as serious and continue to learn," he said.
