"Sleeping Beauty" finally opens her eyes

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Siti Raisa Miranda (13 years old) who fell asleep since October 10 made her family worried.

The family then took the first-grade student of junior high school SMPN 15 Banjarmasin to Ansari Saleh Hospital for medical treatment on Thursday (26/10).

His father, Muliyadi, a resident of Jalan Pangeran Banjarmasin, said he and his wife keep feeding and give drinking, even though their daughter continues to fall asleep.

"There was a response when feeding, even while sleeping. Also when she wanted to urinate or defecate, she could go to the toilet, but then went to sleep again," he said.

He said his daughter this year has already experienced the same thing three times this year, but what happened this time is the worst.

According to him, Icha (her nickname) several times sleep without interruption after a motorcycle accident. Doctors said Icha did not suffer severe injuries from the accident although she had to undergo treatment at the hospital.

But then she slept several times in a long time and looked like she was not aware, though waking up.

He claimed to have done various ways to heal Icha, with medical and nonmedical treatment, in order his daughter recover and can learn and play with her friends without interruption.

"I hope with this medical treatment and the many of community prayers, my child will recover," he said.

Before being admitted to hospital on Thursday (26/10), Icha was examined by psychiatrist and nerves specialist from community health center (puskesmas).

The psychiatrist stated she was not able to conclude the cause of hypersomnia disease suffered by Icha. Careful examination and intense observation, according to her, are needed to determine the cause of the disorder she suffered.

She suggested that Icha's parents take her to the hospital, where a team of doctors with different expertise could examine her thoroughly and diagnose problems that made her fall asleep for a long time.

At Ansari Saleh Hospital, Icha was admitted to the ER and given an IV. The team of hospital doctors has not yet given official information about Icha's current condition.

But Muliyadi revealed that his daughter on Friday (27/10) morning at about 07:00 am open her eyes.

Despite opening her eyes, Icha has not responded to a call. She just blinks occasionally.

"If compared to the previous day there is now progress because it is easier to feed," he said.

He added the team of hospital doctors have done the examination, including CT Scan examination, and provide treatment to his daughter.

But he claimed to have not yet received information from doctors who treat Icha about the illness suffered by his daughter.

"We will remain patient and continue to pray for Icha's healing because this is a trial we have to deal with patiently," said Muliyadi.
