Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 14/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Kotabaru taekwondo athletes won 12 medals in the tenth South Kalimantan Sports Week (Porprov) held 5-15 October 2017 in Tabalong.
The Kotabaru taekwondo coach Tahta Syam Utama Persada in Tanjung on Saturday said until the last day his proteges successfully contributed 12 medals for "Bumi Saijaan" (the nickname of Kotabaru).
"The medal consists of three golds, three silver, and six bronze," said Tahta.
The three gold medals achieved by Sellyna Oktavia, women's under 73 kg, Rika Princess Aulia under 67 kg, and M Zainal Ilmi in men's under 68 kg.
While three silver medals won by M Fakhrizal in men's under 58 kg, Putri Chari in women's under 62 kg, and Dhika Gilang E for men's under 74 kg.
Six bronze medals achieved by Dedy Renaldi in men's under 63 Kg, Rima Amelia P for women's under 49 Kg, Dhiya Rona for women's under 53 Kg, Alvian W men's Ov 87 kg, Muhammad AP in men's under 80 Kg, and Aprilya Dwinta, women's Ov 73 kg.
In taekwondo sports, Kotabaru sent 15 athletes competing for 16 gold with taekwondo athletes from 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan.
"We are grateful that taekwondo can dedicate three gold, three silver and six bronze medals, which is a remarkable improvement compared to Porprov in Banjar Regency which only got silver," he said.
Tahta hoped this success can be welcomed by the local government by preparing training facilities and infrastructure, building and supporting equipment required.
