Tanjung, South Kalimantan 28/8 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Bangun Banua farmers union group (Gapoktan) from Pugaan Subdistrict, Tabalong, South Kalimantan, won the second best national level and received the award from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Head of Horticulture Department of the Tabalong Agriculture Agency Sofianoor in Tanjung on Monday said the award was handed over by the Regent of Tabalong Anang Syakhfiani in a joint ceremony at Taman Giat, Tanjung.

"The award is also given to agriculture counselor as the third winner of provincial level on behalf of As`ari who served in Pugaan," explained Sofianoor.

According to As`ari, Gapoktan Bangun Banua achievement was after the assessment of the institutional administration, completeness of the board, and partnership.

Gapoktan Bangun Banua whose members are farmers in Pugaan this year gets capital assistance for food development from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Head of local Food Security Agency Fahrial Fuaddy explained that the aid is included for Gapoktan operation in unhusked rice purchasing activities.

"In the Tabalong so far only Gapoktan Bangun Banua qualifies the strengthening of independent food distribution institution, thus it got capital assistance from the Ministry of agriculture," said Fahrial.

This farmers group started its business in 2016 and is now producing packaging rice of Cihirang variety from local farmers.
