S Kalimantan's unhusked rice price rises

Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 4/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded price rise of dried unhusked rice (GKP) at farmers level by 0.51 percent in this province during May 2017.

Head of BPS Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Sunday said survey on dried unhusked rice producers in May 2017 was conducted on 38 transactions in 10 districts.

"During May observations in the 10 districts, 38 transactions were dominated by GKP," she said.

She then mentioned ten districts, namely Tanah Laut, Banjar, Barito Kuala, Tapin, South Hulu Sungai, Central Hulu Sungai, North Hulu Sungai, Tabalong, Tanah Bumbu and Balangan.

She said the highest price at farmers' level came from GKP of siam unus varieties at Rp8,363.00 per kilogram in Gambut sub-district, Banjar.

"The lowest price of Rp4,000 per kilogram comes from the quality of harvested dried unhusked rice of IR.42 varieties found in Kelua Sub-district, Tabalong," she said.

The average increase in the price of GKP quality at farmer's level is 0.51 percent from Rp5,019.00 per kilogram in April 2017 to Rp5,045.00/kg in May.

"GKP price at the milling increased from Rp5,120.00 per kg in April to Rp5,142 per kg in May," she said.

The components of GKP quality during May tend to fluctuate and there was a decrease in percentage of moisture content as well as vacuum/filth if compared to April 2017.

"The average moisture content of 14.27 percent and emprty or dirt content 3.37 percent, so that enough to affect the quality of grain," she said.
