Martapura, South Kalimantan 18/2 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Banjar government is preparing a special ship to pick up waste along Martapura River in the district.

Head of environment office Boyke Wahyu Triestiyanto in Martapura on Saturday said the agency had made a design of the ship that specially take out the trash in the river.

"The design of ship have been made, next is preparedness of budget to purchase or build the ship according to the design," he said.

He said he is struggling the purchasing budget through the budget changes in 2017 and is expected early in 2018 the special ship to be operated.

The special ship is needed, he explained, to clear the river of various types of waste that drifts and pollutes the river which amount is quite a lot to reach two tons per day.

"We encourage people to realize that throwing garbage to the river can damage the environment so that no longer do so. If people care, then the river will be clean," he said.

According to him, the number of ship at least one, but if necessary will be added in appropriate with budget capacity.
