Banjarbaru, Kalsel 20/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Mayor Banjarbaru Nadjmi Adhani asked the central government to evaluate work contract with diamond mine PT Galuh Cempaka operating in the city.

"We will ask the government that work contract with PT Galuh Cempaka to be evaluated, because the company is no longer on operation since eight years ago," he said in Banjarbaru Friday.

He said he immediately reported the condition of the mining area located in Palam Village, Sub-district ofCempaka, to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The whole mining area, according it work contract which is valid until the year 2034, reaching 2,900 hectares, but only 600 hectares were exploited.

"Currently the mining area turned into a new tourist attraction known as the Lake Seran and Lake Caramin whose management is done by the community," he said.

According to him, the two lakes which have been attracted many local people and people from outside to visit, is dangerous, because of the depths of the lake reaches 15 meters to 30 meters.

But local government can not manage the quite beautiful attraction, because of the ownership status is still in the hands of the consortium company.

"City Government could not manage the lakes because their status are still PT Galuh Cempaka's right and hampered with work contract with the government that similar to Act," he said.

The evaluation of work contract is expected that the extent of the mining area becomes smaller and Banjarbaru Government given the authority to manage the two lakes.

"Our hope, the area of ??the mine becomes smaller because of the ??2,300 hectares of land area unexploited still owned by the company and two lakes can be managed the local administration," he said.
