Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The management of schools, both teachers and principals, and education offices were stunned when they saw the list of 58 items of school levies presented by South Kalimantan Clean Sweep Illegal Levies Team (Saber Pungli).
It was seen in the group focused discussion (FGD) on free education for elementary and secondary schools in South Kalimantan held by Ombudsman Representatives and resource persons Saber Pungli chairman Kombes Pol Ade Rahmat Suhendi.
Ade warned schools to be careful to impose a levy to the students, if they do not want to be processed by the team.
Besides Irwasda Ade Rahmat Suhendi as Chairman of Saber Pungli, the discussion was also presented Jamaluddin, lecturer of Lambung Mangkurat University, and Antara News Agency South Kalimantan Bureau Chief Abdul Hakim from media elements.
According to participants from schools, not all the 58 levies could be indicated as extortion. For example, infaq which is intended as a learning process for students in conducting religious orders and social care.
They also highlighted levy for scout, tutoring money, and money for association if they indicated as charges of extortion (pungli).
"If it is the fact, then the expression of free education should be followed by the provision of all the needs of the school by the government, so that the 58 charges will automatically be lost," said the participant from the elementary school principal.
Chief Ombudsman Nur Khalis Majid said many practices of illegal fees based on its findings, while the nine-year compulsory education has long been declared free.
"Looking at the facts we conduct in-depth investigations in three districts in South Kalimantan," he said.
