Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City Government gives a distinctive color paint on Malabar Market to become tourist attraction.


Head of the city's market agency Hermansyah here on Thursday said the Malabar Market located in downtown on Jalan Pangeran Samudera is an iconic local tourism market, then it made as attractive as possible with local cultural ornaments paint, Sasirangan motif.

"Painting done by merchants themselves, while the city government only supporting. The market is expected to be more alive," he said.

According to him, Malabar made as tourism attraction as it is a sales centers of agate in the capital of this province. It used to be a visit of tourists who love typical ring stone of South Kalimantan.

For the city government, said Hermansyah, the development of the market opposite the central wholesalers Sudimampir is very important for the improvement of regional tourism.

The existence of unique and distinctive traditional market is very important to boost tourism arrivals, as well as the development of natural attractions.

"Of course, tourists visiting an area eventuallywill look for typical souvenirs of the area. Now we make those places attractive," he said.

In Banjarmasin, he said, there are 54 traditional markets, most of the physical building were repaired by the municipal government, as well their paintingto make them looked attractive.

"Gradually the city government repairs and revitalizes the markets, because they are driving the regional economy, it also aims to boost tourism," he said.
