They sprayed duck cages with disinfectant.
Head of Animal Health of HSU Fisheries and Livestock Agency DVM. I Komang Agus in Amuntai on Wednesday said in preventing transmission of the bird flu disease farmers asked to do the cleaning and spraying disinfectant at cages.
"We have received information about bird flu case in Banjarmasin attacking type of white chicken," he said.
Supposed to anticipate the entry of bird flu, according to him, the poultry should be vaccinated. However, the cost is very expensive, so it enough with regular cleaning and spraying disinfectant.
If bird flu occurs, said Komang, spraying disinfectant can be done twice in one week. If there is no case spraying will be once a week.
He said cases of bird flu could occur at any time in the district or it depends on livestock durability and weather conditions.
Although HSU has been established by the Ministry of Agriculture as a source Alabio duck, according to him, there is no special treatment related to vaccine administration.
"Every three months officers from the Central Veterner Banjarbaru perform sampling as a form of supervision of the occurrence of cases of avian influenza and other diseases," said Komang.
