Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Windownesia store is helping Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products access the global market, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir has said.
"Windownesia is a joint big step toward Indonesia as a hub of diverse culture and economy, with Indonesia's flagship products entering global (market)," he informed at a press conference on Windownesia at the Sarinah Duty-Free Store in Sarinah Building here on Saturday.
Thohir said that Windownesia reflects the commitment of the Indonesian government to supporting MSMEs and promoting the country's flagship products in the international market.
State-owned retail company Sarinah launched the first Windownesia store on October 11, 2023, in Perth, Australia.
Windownesia is a form of strategic collaboration between Sarinah and Dufry International AG, which is the largest duty-free shop operator in the world.
Minister Thohir lauded the collaboration, which is expected to elevate local products and Indonesian MSMEs to the global market.
"The initiative of this collaboration is aimed at providing a special platform to showcase and market Indonesian products on various distribution channels of Dufry, which operates duty-free shops across the world," he said.
The launch of the Windownesia store at the arrivals terminal of Perth Airport, Australia, marks the beginning of the journey to promoting Indonesian products in the world market through Windownesia.
The minister added that the opening of the Windownesia store will be a reciprocal initiative that will make Indonesia not only a market, but also a supplier of its flagship products and brands to international markets.
Meanwhile, the president director of PT Sarinah, Fetty Kwartati, said that the cooperation for the launch of the Windownesia store aligns with Sarinah's mission to empower local MSMEs and make Indonesia a hub of global creativity and crafts.
She added that Windownesia serves as a "window" to Indonesia abroad and promotes national tourism. Sarinah is also planning to open more Windownesia stores in countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
