Marabahan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - After successfully carrying out trials onion cultivation, farmers inBarito Kuala, South Kalimantan, again successfully diversified soybean plants.
Regent Batola H Hasanuddin Murad along with Representative Director Assorted Nuts and Tubers Ministry of Agriculture Hardian, Vice Chairman of the Institute LPPM IPB Agik Suprayogi, Chairman of Event Raising Saturated and Water (BJA) Memen, and Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering IPB Kudang and Forkopinda implement the first harvest of soybeans, Thursday (18/8).
The debut harvest in a four hectare land privately owned by Anto, a resident of RT 05 Sido Makmur village, Sub-district of Marabahan, was quite promising with the average yield of 1.3 tons per hectare.
"Cultivation of soybeans in the village of Sido Makmur has the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and escorted by Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB)," said Regent H Hasanuddin Murad in Marabahan.
Former member of the House of Representatives explained, diversification of this kind is expected by the government to the farmers in the region.
"I expect continue the experiment in an attempt to reproduce commodities and ultimately improve the welfare of farmers," he said.
Regent appealed to the farmers who participated apply as implemented by Anto can improve the economy, which increases welfare.
Chairman of the BJA activities Memen explained that in 2016 the company carrying out activities in six provinces, namely South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan Jambi, Lampung and South Sumatra.
For 2016, he said, the government implemented soybean cultivation area of ??10,000 hectares, 2017 to 10-fold, and 2018 is expected to be 1 million hectares.
"With the efforts to increase the planting area of ??soybean cultivation, it is expected that Indonesia could be self-sufficient in soybeans," he said.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman LPPM Agik Suprayogi revealed, IPB is committed to continue to struggle with attention, learning and responding to all the problems relating to the cultivation of soybean in Batola.
