Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan provincial government plans to build a green open space and zero point monument in one package project in the area of former provincial governor office on Jalan Sudirman Banjarmasin.


Head of South Kalimantan Development Planning Board (Bappeda) HM Jasran revealed the plans to build a green open space (RTH) and a zero point monument when answered questions from members of the provincial legislative council (DPRD) press room here on Thursday.

However, he insisted, the plan need a study in advance, in order to finance it.

Esppecially for construction of zero point monument, the provincial government will make competition of the design or model of the building.

"Zero point monument design competition will be in 2017," he said before a meeting of the Special Committee of 2016-2021 South Kalimantan Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMD).

He added, in development planning of zero point monument the height may be the same as or close to the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta, not small and low like the previous monument.

"Governor H Sahbirin Noor wants the zero point monument, which development to be one package with the RTH later, that from the peak could see whole area of Banjarmasin, the city of a thousand rivers," he said.

The area of former office of the governor or the regional secretariat of South Kalimantan province, except the still intact of governor's office, will be green space for public use.

"We hope the RTH to be laid out well and the zero point monument will later attract more tourists come to the province, particularly the city of a thousand rivers Banjarmasin," said Jasran.
