Kotabaru DPRD Deputy Speaker appreciates Perwosi Cup 2026

Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Vice chairman of the Kotabaru DPRD Awaludin expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian women's Sports Association (Perwosi) for organizing the Perwosi Cup I 2026.

The volleyball tournament for female students at the junior and senior high school levels in Kotabaru Regency was held at the Dirgahayu indoor court.

"I extend my gratitude to the Kotabaru government for the budgetary support, as well as to the entire organizing committee for their hard work in making the 2026 Perwosi Cup I a success. This represents a tangible step toward fostering competitive sports in the region," said Awaludin in Kotabaru on Tuesday.

He hopes this tournament to serve as a platform to scout talented volleyball players who will strengthen Kotabaru contingent for the South Kalimantan Provincial Championship (Kejurprov), and Kotabaru is prepared to host the volleyball competition.

"In addition to studying at school, students also need sports activities and social learning through competitions like this. This tournament is a means of building sportsmanship, discipline, and togetherness," he said.

Meanwhile, Second Deputy Speaker of the Kotabaru DPRD, Chairil Anwar, welcomed the Perwosi Cup I 2026. According to him, the student competition is a strategic step to find potential athletes who are ready to compete at a higher level.

"We hope that this tournament will produce promising volleyball athletes capable of bringing Kotabaru a good name at the provincial and national levels," said Chairil Anwar.

"We at the DPRD will continue to provide support, including through the allocation of grants for volleyball. We want the development of athletes to run optimally so that Kotabaru's sports achievements continue to increase, " he concluded.
