Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The number of air passengers through Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin airport jumped over the long holiday since Thursday (5/5) to Sunday (7/5).
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Syamsudin Noor Airport Heryudhitiawan Handy in Banjarbaru on Sunday said the peak departure was on Wednesday (4/5).
"The number of passengers soared on Wednesday to 12,300 people, either leaving or coming through Syamsudin Noor," he said.
The most destination was Jakarta and Surabaya, although other cities such as Yogyakarta was relatively has many passengers. Dozens of planes provides services every day here.
"The surge in the number of passengers has become the trend of the holiday season. Almost every day the number jumped compared to usual day," he said.
One day before entering the holiday, the number of passengers surged by 23 percent compared to normal days. All were served by the airlines without significant barriers, he said.
According to him, the number of passengers departing and arriving relatively decline on Thursday (5/5) with the number of 12,000 people and reducing on Friday (6/5) with only 9,700 people.
Then on Saturday (7/5) the number of passengers has not touched the figure of 10,000, it is still in the holiday period which runs until Sunday (8/5).
"The peak of the reverse flow of passengers expected on Sunday because Monday is time back to work. The total, estimated at 12,500," he said.
